Juanita was in a few of my architecture related classes at Pasadena City College and in the student chapter of the American Society of Engineers and Architects of which I was President at the time.  She was stricken with leukemia in 1980-81 and wrestled the disease for six months or so before finally succumbing to its death grip.  I too, fondly remember her positive outlook, smiles and jocularity.  She is still sorely missed.

The day I met Juanita Wright we both realized we were both born on Valentine's Day. That was our special connection.  She was funny, pretty, smart and had the most beautiful smile. I can honestly say that she was the first girl I really loved in High School.  We would always send b-day cards to each other even during the time I was in Japan during my military service time. After returning home I learned of her passing due to her battle with Lukemia. I was heartbroken. Till this day I still have every birthday card, letter and love notes we shared with each other.  A  piece of me died with Juanita, and I still think of her often wondering why such a beautiful person was take from us. Those of you who new Juanita would agree with me. A piece of her spirit lives inside of me. She will never be forgotten.

I was Juanita's cousin. I sometimes drove her to her leukemia treatments at City of Hope. Even though she was in a considerable amount of pain, she never complained, or felt sorry for herself. She was always upbeat and remained funny as ever. She is sorely missed. I know there is one more angel in heaven.
