In Memory

Susan Mortimer (Lowe)

  • God took another angel in Susan Mortimer Lowe, who lost a five-year battle with breast cancer and a brain tumor discovered in November, 2012. She left us to be with our creator on April 2, 2013.

Susan was born October 7, 1961. She graduated from John Muir High School in 1979 and married Craig Lowe on February 17, 1980.

She had three boys: Craig Aloysius, David Patrick and Travis Mortimer; a daughter in law, Christa; and grandson, Mason McLeod. She worked for Pasadena Optical during and after high school until its closure several years ago.

She was an amazing, giving, caring, loving person. She loved cart racing. Her son Travis races all over the United States and she was such a big part of Irwindale Raceway family.

She also is survived by two brothers, Patrick and Andy Mortimer; and two sisters, Mary Alice and Dorothy. Her family and friends were so important to her and she was loved by so many. There are no words to express how much she is and will be missed.

-Lila Burns, who met Susan in fourth grade and remained best friends since.

It is with great sadness that I report the passing of another of our beloved classmates. According to Dana Hause Gaspers, Susan Mortimer Lowe died early yesterday morning. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013, at the hall of Monte Vista Grove Homes, 2889 San Pasqual St., Pasadena (north side of the street, just east of San Gabriel Boulevard in Marwick Place, which is off the C Street entrance). There is limited parking on the lot, on C Street and on First Street. Please share this with all who would like to celebrate Susan's life.
