OK, so we all know we're going to have our Reunion at the University Club in Pasadena. How do you envision our reunion will be, i.e. music, events, dancing, gifts/prizes, photographer or no photographer, memory book or no memory book...whatever comes to your mind.....

Hey, Shawn - Yes, we'll be having dinner...that's a given. We just want to know what everyone else would like to have besides dinner and dancing.

Hi Linda! You had asked about ideas for reunion events... One suggestion: A live band might be a great way to make this reunion memorable. DJs can be cool too, but if we could find a band that plays a good selection of songs from our HS years (Motown, Disco, Classic Rock, Soul) it would take this special event to another level. Very Happy
I'm sure that financial constraints are a consideration. I may be able to help you find one that would be willing to lower their fee to accommodate us. Idea
You had also brought up a couple other good suggestions. I think a memory book and a photographer would also be nice touches. Does anyone else have any thoughts about these ideas?

Hi, Michael! At our next reunion meeting (June 6th at 12noon at the JMHS Library) we will be forming committees for the dinner/dance and for the picnic. We are trying to keep the costs down so that more people can attend the reunion...so, if we can find a very inexpensive band to play that would be wonderful. By the way, does YOUR band play music from the 70's? We would be open to any suggestions that you may have and if you're in town on Saturday, June 6th, feel free to stop on by the reunion committee meeting - which is open to anyone from our class to attend.

Oh, and regarding memory books...we have found a company that could be an official photographer for the event and put the memory books together. The cost for a book may be separate from the reunion ticket cost, though. That, too, will be up for discussion at our next meeting.

Thanks for the heads-up regarding the next meeting, Linda! I appreciate all your hard work to make this event special. I will try to rearrange my schedule so I can make it.

That would be awesome if you can make it! It would totally jump start our entertainment options!!

Hi, Linda--

In the past I have only attended the picnic. What is especially fun for me is seeing people with their kids (and by now, grandkids?) I have a 10-year-old now who was very bored at the last reunion picnic I took her to at UC Santa Cruz, because there was nothing for the kids to do.

I was thinking it might be fun to have picnic activities. Maybe relay races--sack race, three-legged race, egg or water-balloon toss, etc. It could be for kids AND adults. I would be willing to help with that. Could you let me know who is on the committee for the picnic?

Is there going to be a charge for the picnic? If so, I hope it is low. Or maybe money could be raised by offering the option for people to buy food or water balloons or souvenirs or something.

Thank you.

Susan Stuart

Hi, Susan - We're in the very early stages of planning the picnic. I really like your ideas. We'll be meeting on Saturday, July 11th. Your ideas will be discussed with the committee then. Also, the food will be separate from the admission. After all, not everyone wants to eat...they just want to see everyone and their families.
